Newks is a more “modern” style eatery that has a larger menu than many small quick restaurants like them, which thankfully spills over into their vegan options to some degree.
Table of Contents
You really have to look deep into the Newk’s Menu and get in contact with them directly to figure out all the vegan options at their restaurants — so that’s what we did!
Newk’s Allergen menu only lists a few options, as it doesn’t list all the ingredients out separately, but rather just the menu items they sell. This means as a vegan you can customize certain dishes like their Pizzas and make them 100% Vegan!
Newk’s Vegan Pizza Options:
- Veggie Pizza (No Goat Cheese, No Mozzarella)
- Build-Your-Own Pizza without cheese
Newk’s Pizzas are quite good, albeit a bit on the smaller size (they’re not meant for sharing), including some yummy vegan toppings like Portabella mushrooms, many types of bell peppers, artichoke, whole tomatoes, some beautiful beautiful red onion slices, etc.
They brush oil that contains garlic on the crust, and it should be 100% Vegan as well, so don’t worry if it’s a bit wet or shiny. It shouldn’t be butter, it should be tasty garlic oil.
Newk’s Vegan Salad Options:
- Garden Salad (no cheese, no croutons)
- Balsamic Vinaigrette
- Greek Dressing
- Sherry Vinaigrette
- Avocado Chunks (Topping)
- Pico De Gallo (Topping)
- Mixed Fruit (Topping)
There Salad options are pretty nice as there’s many vegan dressings and some great toppings you can add in usually for free or relatively cheap. Unfortunately, as mentioned above, the Grilled Veggie Salad is often not available anymore as they removed it from the menu. Some locations may still make it for you though, so ask if you want it!
Vegan Sandwich Options at Newk’s:
- Portabella Veggie Sandwich (no cheese, no pesto)
- Build-Your-Own Sandwich
- White Bread
- 11-Grain Bread
You can put everything from the pizzas on the Sandwiches and vise versa, so you can get a pretty nice sandwich going, especially with avocado and maybe pico de gallo from the salad options on it. You can never go wrong with an Avocado Sandwich.
Vegan Soup Options at Newk’s:
- Grilled Vegetable Soup
Newk’s makes different Soups each day, so they may not always have the Grilled Vegetable Soup available, however generally they do have it. Due to all the other good vegan options Newk’s has it shouldn’t be an issue if they’re missing this option though.
You can get the soup with half a salad as a meal, or simply add some bread to “bulk” up the soup.
Vegan Side Dishes at Newk’s:
- Apple Sauce
- Mixed Fruit Cup
- Various Lay’s Chips
- Baked Lay’s Chips
- Multigrain Sun Ships (See Vegan Flavors Here)
- Newk’s Jalapeno Kettle Chips
- Newk’s Original Kettle Chips
Unfortunately the Pasta Salad and other side dishes contain eggs and/or dairy products and thus aren’t vegan.
Vegan Desserts at Newk’s:
- None
There’s no real Vegan Dessert Options at Newk’s, although you can order some Applesauce or Fruit to have something sweet after your meal if you really want a dessert.
Newk’s Vegan Kids Menu:
- Kids-Sandwich swapped for above-mentioned sandwiches
- Newk’s Kids Veggie Pizza (No-Cheese)
They don’t have any vegan-options on their kids menu, but in my experience Newk’s employees are always fine with swapping things for no extra charge so long as you simply let them know you and your child can’t eat dairy/meat/etc.
