Table of Contents
Currently I’m only aware of one vegan flavor, and it’s incredibly hard to find in person. You can get them online or I believe find them in Spain, however elsewhere it’s next to impossible. I’ll go over some vegan alternatives for vegans who don’t live in Spain below.
Chips Ahoy Vegan Flavors & Types:
- Big & Chunky Chips Ahoy (In Most of Europe)
Unfortunately, as mentioned at the opening of this article, that’s the only vegan chips ahoy flavor/type currently available. As you can only find it in Spain and some other European countries, outside of specialty stores at least, most of us vegans are just going to have to choose an alternative to Chips Ahoy to get our cookie fix.
Before we get into alternatives I’d like to provide some confirmation as to which Chips Ahoy flavors/varieties are non-vegan. Currently Chips Ahoy Thins, Chips Ahoy Original Classic Cookies, Chips Ahoy Chewy Cookies, Chips Ahoy Chunky Cookies, Chips Ahoy Filled Cookies, Chips Ahoy Mix-in’s, Chips Ahoy Minis, and Chips Ahoy Reese’s Cookies, are non-vegan as they contain dairy and/or other animal products in them.
Great Vegan Alternatives to Chips Ahoy Cookies:
I was never a big fan of Chips Ahoy, as I prefer a softer chocolate chip cookie compared to a hard and crunchy one, so I’m quite familiar with alternatives because I’ve tried virtually all of them, and probably all the big-name vegan ones available since I’ve gone vegan.
My favorite is probably Benton’s (Aldi Brand) Chocolate Chip Cookies, they have both hard/crunchy ones like Chips Ahoy as well as Softer ones that I prefer. They aren’t the healthiest, but they’re prepackaged chocolate chip cookies, what do you expect?
Others simply don’t compare from what I’ve tried. Whole foods has some great freshly made vegan chocolate chip cookies at most locations, as do many local bake-shops, but I’ve yet to try a prepackaged cookie other than Aldis that was better than Chips Ahoy, or even comparable according to others I’ve met.
