Bob Evans isn’t very vegan friendly, and I wouldn’t recommend going here as a vegan, but if you find yourself at a Bob Evans you can eat a handful of decent options. You may even be able to scrounge up a decent meal.
Table of Contents
There’s plenty of worse places for a vegan to find their self at, such as Wing Stop, which only has three real options, none of which you can build a meal out of. While Bob Evans is yet to have a vegan entree, they have plenty of vegan sides to choose from, as well as quite tasty vegan breads.
Vegan Breads at Bob Evans:
- Sourdough Bread
- White Bread
- Wheat Bread
- Rye Bread
- English Muffin
- Potato Bun
- Cinna-Biscuits
It may be wise to ask for no butter/margarine on it, as they often give it, although Bob Evans claims it’s dairy-free it may contain animal by-products so if you want to avoid having a little Sheep-Wool D3 make sure you get it without butter/margarine.
Some folks have asked if any of their hotcakes are vegan and sorry to disappoint, but no, none of their hotcakes, not even their multi-grain hotcakes (pancakes) are currently vegan.
Vegan Sides at Bob Evans:
- Baked Potato (Plain)
- Steamed Broccoli (No butter)
- Home Fries
- Fruit Dish
- Steel Cut Oatmeal (Plain, made with water)
- Hashbrowns
- Cornmeal Mush
- Plain Baked Potato
Unfortunately that’s all they have anymore, they’ve cut out their smiley potato fries, their sweet potatoes, and even corn, which all used to be vegan at least. They’ve phased all of them out, which sucks because they used to all be vegan at Bob Evans.
Really this and the bread is all you can really get at Bob Evans that’s vegan, other than sauces and condiments I’ll list below.
One tip with the hash browns though before we get to the condiments. At some Bob Evans locations you can order them with bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, and sometimes other vegetables in them just like you can at places like Waffle House.
Vegan Salad Options at Bob Evans:
- Build-Your-Own Salad (See Below)
- Balsamic Vinaigrette Dressing
- Raspberry Reduced Fat Dressing
- Sweet Italian Dressing
- Colonial Dressing
In regards to the Salad Options, there are none on the menu, however you can request one without croutons, crackers, cheese, egg, meats, etc and get one made vegan.
Other Vegan Sauces/Dressing/Extras at Bob Evans:
- Orange Marmalade
- Grape Jelly
- Strawberry Jam
- Apple Butter
- Pancake Syrup
- Sugar-Free Pancake Syrup
- Dried Cranberries
- Dried Raisins
- Strawberry Topping
- Brown Sugar
- Blueberries
- Chocolate Chips
- Cinnamon Chips
- Cinnamon Sugar
- Toasted Coconut
- Dried Cranberries
- Cranberry Relish
- Pickle
- Chocolate Sauce
- Ranchero Sauce
- Wildfire Sauce
- Syrup
- Sugar-Free Syrup
- Streusel Topping
The Chocolate Fudge Topping is not vegan like some other sites have claimed. It clearly contains dairy according to Bob Evans Allergy Statement.
In regards to that allergy statement, the reason the Wildfire BBQ sauce isn’t listed as Vegan above is because it contains honey in it, which is what it makes it non-vegan. It doesn’t contain dairy/eggs/etc though.
Unfortunately that’s all there is that’s vegan at Bob Evans right now. They aren’t very vegan-friendly, especially compared to some of their competitors such as Denny’s.
