Pollo Tropical is a pretty standard Latin-American Chain Restaurant, and they have numerous vegan options. Maybe they are not at the level of Slutty Vegan, but you definitely won’t struggle to eat vegan at Pollo Tropical.
Table of Contents
The South Florida-based restaurant chain introduced its alternative meat option in cooperation with Beyond Meat which is called Vegan Picadillo. In addition to this, you will find tons of Latin-American inspired vegan items, such as beans/rice, plantains, corn, and various types of cooked potatoes.
Vegan Main Courses at Pollo Tropical:
- Build-Your-Own Tropichop Bowl (See Below)
- Beyond Meat Picadillo Wrap
- Other Vegan items (Varies by location, but they specify vegan so it’s obvious)
While you can get a Full-size Caesar Salad without cheese, croutons, or meat, it becomes literally just lettuce, so I wouldn’t consider that a real vegan main dish. Just get the Burrito-bowl “Tropichop.”
For the Tropichop bowl, you can put basically any of the sides in it, namely: White Rice, Yellow Rice & Veg, Brown Rice, Romaine Lettuce, Black Beans, Diced Tomatoes, Kernel Corn (without butter), Sauteed Onions, and Sauteed Peppers. There are also some sauces you can put on/in it listed below that I’d definitely recommend checking out and adding onto/into your TropiChop bowl. Now you top it with Vegan Picadillo which is 100 percent plant-based Beyond Beef.
Pollo Tropical’s New Vegan wrap also comes with Vegan Picadillo, peppers, onions in a tomato-based sauce, and white or brown rice – which is your choice – in a tasty flour tortilla wrap.
Vegan Side Dishes at Pollo Tropical:
- Flour Tortilla
- Dinner Roll
- French Fries
- Green Beans
- Sweet Plantains
- Boiled Yuca with Garlic Sauce
- Fried Yuca chunks
- Balsamic Tomatoes
- Kernel Corn (No Butter)
- Brown Rice & Black Beans
- Yellow Rice W/ Veg & Black Beans
- White Rice and Black Beans
- Black Beans
- Brown Rice
- Yellow Rice with Vegetables
- White Rice
- Caesar Side Salad (No Cheese/Croutons/Meat — Basically just plain lettuce)
It’s nice that not only are the basics us vegans need to make a good meal here are vegan, such as the black beans and rice, but they also have vegan potato side-dishes and even vegan bread!
Vegan Dressings, Toppings, and Sauces at Pollo Tropical:
- Fresh Salsa
- Garlic Sauce (Mojo)
- BBQ Sauce
- Guava BBQ Sauce
- Spicy Po-Po Sauce
- Ketchup
- Pineapple Rum Sauce
- Diced Onions & Jalapeno Slices
- Sauteed Onions & Jalapenos
- Diced Tomatoes
- Kernel Corn (Specify no butter)
I’d treat these things more as things to put in your “TropiChop” bowl rather than in a salad, as the salad option is basically just lettuce and a few of these add-ins don’t really fix that issue too well. The sauces at Pollo Tropical are really unique and it’s nice that so many of them are 100% Vegan.
Vegan Desserts at Pollo Tropical:
- None
Currently Pollo Tropical doesn’t offer any vegan desserts, or anything else I’d say make a good substitute for a dessert.
